Animated educational film clarifying the biological effects of electromagnetic (EM) fields. The aim is to make current scientific knowledge available to everyone and to open a public debate on the health risks of modern technologies.

TREATMENT:
Together with a continuous
PoV camera, we discover
the most fundamental
mechanisms of EM fields
interacting with specific
parts of the human body.
Each chapter starts with the
basic biological knowledge
(e.g. cellular respiration),
then reveal the bio-physical mechanism of interaction
at the sub-atomic level
(electron spin change) and subsequent bio-chemical changes (free radical formation) that can lead to serious diseases (cancer).
The final chapter outlines the
most suitable approach to adjust legislation for mitigating risks based on the contemporary science (the precautionary principle).
TECHNOLOGY:
The visuals are based on
digital 3D animation (CGI)
in three planes (foreground,
middle plan, background)
+ 2D graphic elements added
during the editing process.
The audio component consists
of a spoken commentary (mono), accompanied by sound FX(stereo)
and background music (stereo).
The credits and scientific literature are formulated
according to the established
Harvard citation standard.
HOW DID IT BEGIN:
During my university studies, I was shocked that legislation protecting public against harmful effects of modern technologies is not entirely consistent with the current scientific knowledge.
I decided deep dive into the topic, perform a massive review of scientific literature and make conclusions available to everyone in visually attractive, understandable and transparent way.
Since we use various electronic devices every day (phones, computers, gadgets), and 5G wireless network is about to come into our lives, health risks should be publicly known, so we all can safely use modern and emerging technologies for our daily activities.

A brief summary of the electromagnetic field's biological effects based on the current level of scientific knowledge - including the mechanisms of interaction and possible health effects.

Video-clips:
An overview of five key areas for the holistic insight into the electrosmog:
Available as 1-2 minute video-clips
for a quick overview.
Clip 1: Vision biology
Would you like to enhance your biological knowledge in an entertaining way? Each chapter of the film is introduced with an elementary knowledge for easier understanding of biological effects.
Clip 2: Biological effects of electrosmog (evidence)
The most infamous biological effects of EM fields:
1) Living cells react to the EM field as harmful.
2) Increased permeability of the blood-brain barrier.
3) Changes in the excitability of nerve cells.
Clip 3: Electrosmog & DNA (mechanisms)
Electromagnetic radiation can directly damage DNA. Let's take a closer look at how this happens by affecting the electrons of nucleobases...
Clip 4: Electrosmog & Free radicals
(mechanisms and impacts)
How do both radioactive & microwave radiation cause harmful effects? Mostly indirectly by the free radical formation, in addition to disrupting the hydrogen bonds of our DNA. The non-ionizing radiation produces free radicals mainly by accelerating the Fenton reactions and preventing the neutralization of superoxide molecules.
Clip 5: Electrosmog & Legislation
Precationary principle (ALARA)
Legislation on health protection should be based on the precautionary principle - according to the current state of scientific knowledge and the Council of Europe resolutions. Currently 7 EU countries have voluntarily implemented stricter legislative measures.
